Madidi National Park / General information
- The park is characterized by its exceptional wealth of biological riches and variety of ecosystems. Madidi is home to over 4,739 species of plants, 1,370 species of vertebrates and 867 tropical birds and endemic plants making it a priority for conservation.
- This protected area has the highest number of bird species in the world and it is thought that more studies will register over 1,100 species.
- The Madidi National Park is composed of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, high Andean lagoons, deep valleys and canyons, cliffs, torrid rivers and waterfalls all adding up to make up some of the most stunning scenery you will ever see.
- There are numerous Inca and Mollo archaeological sites and pre-Columbian paths in the upper regions of the Park, which is also home to many different ethnic groups both in the low and highlands.

JE1 La Paz – Madidi – Pampas 10 days 9 nights trekking & nature (share basis)
Day 01. La Paz - Coroico We pick up passengers to visit the sub-tropical part of La Paz, the Yungas. The trip goes to the north until we reach Coroico. The trip goes through the world’s exciting roads and Bolivia’s diverse scenery for about 3 hours, crossing a mountain range of enormous masses of stone and rock, gradually descending to the sub tropic region. Arrivals at the hotel, time to walk around the area, have a pool afternoon or enjoy a soft drink with a spectacular view.
Day 02 Coroico - Rurrenabaque After breakfast departure from the hotel, the jeep ride goes through a few Indian farmer villages. We stop at Caranavi for lunch, arrival in Rurrenabaque late in the afternoon. Overnight in a cool hotel with swimming pool.
Day 03 Rurrenabaque - Madidi Boat trip to the Chalalán Ecolodge (5½ hours) up the rivers Beni and Tuíchi. Our boats are equipped with: roof, comfy seats, life jackets, raincoats and a first-aid kit. Arrival at the port of Chalalán. 25 minute walk to the Ecolodge. Help is given with luggage. Settle in at your cabin or room. Short walk along the Paraba path to the viewing point, where you can see the beautiful landscape across the lagoon, mountains and Madidi rainforest. Return by canoe along the rivers leading to the Chalalán lagoon to watch birds and monkeys. Theme: hardwood trees and wildlife. Night hike to see insects, tarantulas, amphibians, mice, and nocturnal birds and monkeys or if you prefer a canoe trip to see amphibians, nocturnal birds and alligators easily seen because of their glowing eyes. Overnight in comfortable cabins with private bath.
Day 04 Madidi Buffet breakfast in the Ecolodge. Walk through the jungle on the theme paths to see and learn about the forest and wildlife. Theme: natural interpretation of the forest, natural history, ecological processes, medicinal plants and hardwood trees, animal behaviour and bird watching. Return to the Ecolodge, lunch. Time to rest or swim in the lagoon.
Day 05 Madidi – Rurrenabaque After breakfast departure back to Rurrenabaque, only 3 hours by boat. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in the same hotel. Try a tropical drink at our favourite bamboo hut, the Mosquito Pub!
Day 06 Rurrenabaque - Pampas Departure from Rurrenabaque to the Pampas, also called savannas by at Yacuma River. During our ride we will see the changing of scenery, it is not that green as the jungle but more impressive because of the many animal you are able to see from the first time, such as monkeys, capybaras and herons. On our arrival lunch and boat ride up current towards our first camping side.
Day 07 Pampas After breakfast we get again to the Yacuma River to observe the pink dolphins, turtles, and birds. Lunch and later a short walk to see anteaters and monkeys. After dinner, a night tour to look for anacondas and alligators. Camping night.
Day 08 Pampas - Rurrenabaque After breakfast, our last day in the pampas will be used to enjoy nature and perhaps see more of the river dolphins, capybaras and birds before we depart back to Rurrenabaque. Rest of the day is free in the village.
Day09 On wise time transfer to the small airport and flight to La Paz, reception, transfer to the hotel and the afternoon is yours in La Paz. Take an optional trip to the Tiwanaku Ruins or explore the famous Witches Market.
Day10 Flight home.

JE2 La Paz –Madidi – 5 days 4 nights (share basis)
Day01. An early morning flight brings you to the frontier town of Rurrenabaque, where you’ll be met by Chalalán staff and transferred to your hotel. The day is yours to explore this jungle town and relax. Try a tropical drink at our favourite bamboo hut, the Mosquito Pub!
